Increase your return on dual currency accounts
Dual Currency Account
Dual Currency Account is a derivative instrument which combines a time deposit with a currency option to provide a higher interest than that available for a standard deposit underlying a Dual Currency Account. Customer sells an FX option to the bank, which gives the bank the right to exercise the option (in which case the customer receives his money back in the Alternate currency). The bank pays the customer the option premium in the form of an increased interest rate on the account.
By investing in a Citibank Dual Currency Account, you give the bank the right to repay you the amount calculated at the Option Exercise Price at a future date in the alternate currency (instead of the Base Currency). A Citibank Dual Currency Account comes up with an investment element and returns may vary accordingly. It is subject to a number of risks, including currency fluctuations, which may come up with both opportunities and risks. You may face a currency loss when you convert any alternate currency you are paid when the option right is exercised by the bank into the base currency to such extent that you may lose not only the interest earned from the investment but also your principle. Interest earned at maturity from a Dual Currency Account is credited to accounts on the day immediately following the maturity pursuant to our bank's procedures. Option Premium earned from the option sell is credited to accounts on the day immediately following the first day of new term in the principal currency.
